Part of what I hope can be this blog’s service to the community is the posting of job opportunities related to Chinese law that may be of interest to readers. Here’s one I got from someone I know at Google, which has positions available on its legal team in Shanghai and in Taipei. They are looking for people with a fair amount of experience; ideally at least a few years at a firm and a few years in-house.
These are not expat positions; they involve local salary and local benefits. Non-Taiwan/PRC passport holders are welcome to apply, but they must have native fluency in Chinese (e.g., be able to draft legal documents).
The ideal candidates are lawyers who have solid contract/commercial law chops, are passionate about technology and associated legal issues, and enjoy working independently to navigate ambiguous regulatory environments.
