My colleague Sean Murphy has recorded a series of lectures on international legal issues highly relevant to China’s sovereignty and maritime claims in the South China Sea and elsewhere. Sean is a highly-regarded expert on international law, but don’t just take my word for it: he is, among other things, a member of the UN’s International Law Commission and the next president of the American Society of International Law. The lectures are at the UN’s Audiovisual Library of International Law.
Here are the topics:
- Lecture I: Islands, Rocks and Low‐Tide Elevations
- Lecture II: Methods for Securing Sovereignty Over an Island
- Lecture III: Islands in Relation to Maritime Zones
- Lecture IV: Effects of Islands on Maritime Boundary Delimitation
